You have decided to go for Umrah. It is a big trip and the rules change every season. In 2026 the biggest change is simple to remember: no booking, no visa.
This guide walks you through the real steps for a Pakistani passport holder, from choosing an operator to the vaccinations you need. Everything here comes from official sources and is current for the 1448 AH season.
Can you apply for an Umrah visa online yourself?
For most Pakistani passport holders, no. Saudi Arabia's official platform, Nusuk, does not accept direct Umrah visa applications from Pakistan. The visa is processed by a licensed Pakistani operator using the Nusuk Masar system, which is the backend portal that approved agents use.
So the first real step is not the visa form. It is picking a licensed operator. Pakistan's Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony publishes an attested list of Umrah tour operators for each season. Check any company against that list before you pay a single rupee.
What documents do you need?
Get these ready before you approach an operator:
- a passport valid for at least six months with two blank pages
- a clear digital passport photo that matches Saudi requirements
- a confirmed return flight ticket
- proof of a Nusuk-approved hotel booking
- proof of pre-booked transport in Saudi Arabia
- up to date vaccination certificates
- an email address and mobile number you can actually use
The "No Booking, No Visa" rule
This is the single most important change for the 1448 AH (2026) season. Your visa application must be linked to a Booking Reference Number (BRN) for both accommodation and transport, verified through the Nusuk system.
In plain words: you need a confirmed hotel room in Makkah or Madinah and booked transport before the visa can be processed. Even if you plan to stay with family in Saudi Arabia, the system still wants a Nusuk-approved hotel booking on file.
The bookings must come from Nusuk-registered providers. A reservation you made on a third party website will not be accepted for the visa.
Why you should not apply at the last minute
Processing usually takes about five to ten working days in peak season. Many operators report approvals in three to five days when your papers are clean. But airlines and hotels fill up fast, and demand stays high through the season.
Apply a few weeks before your planned travel window. Do not book a flight for tomorrow and hope for a visa today.
Vaccinations you must have
Saudi Arabia requires the meningococcal meningitis (ACWY) vaccine for every pilgrim aged one and above. Take it at least ten days before arrival. The certificate stays valid for up to five years for the conjugate vaccine.
Because Pakistan is on the WHO polio transmission list, pilgrims from Pakistan also need a polio dose taken at least four weeks before travel. Seasonal flu vaccine is usually required too. Check the Saudi Ministry of Health's official Umrah health requirements before you travel.
What does it cost?
There is no single fixed figure, because your total depends on the operator, the flights, and the hotel. But the official visa fee on Nusuk is around USD 80. Add a visa digital service fee close to USD 10.50, an insurance digital service fee close to USD 10.50, and the insurance premium itself depends on the provider.
This is why you ask for an itemised quote. The promoted "visa price" you see online is almost never the whole cost. Ask the operator to list visa, insurance, transport, hotel, and service fees separately, and ask what is refundable and what is not.
Can women travel without a mahram?
Yes. Women aged 18 and above can apply for an Umrah visa on their own, without a male guardian. This has been in place for some time under Saudi rules. Minors under 18 must travel with a parent or legal guardian, and their details are linked to the adult's visa.
Umrah visa validity
A single entry Umrah visa must be used to enter Saudi Arabia within 30 days of issue. Once you are inside, you can stay up to 90 days. A multiple entry Umrah visa is valid for a year with up to 90 days per visit. You cannot extend an Umrah visa once you are inside. Overstay brings fines and can hurt future applications, so leave before the date printed on the visa.
Umrah season dates for 1448 AH
The season is open. Visa issuance resumed on 31 May 2026 and pilgrims have entered Makkah since 1 June 2026. The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has set these deadlines:
- last date to issue an Umrah visa: 9 March 2027
- last date to enter Saudi Arabia: 23 March 2027
- last date to leave the Kingdom: 7 April 2027
The step by step
- Pick an operator from the attested Umrah operators list on mora.gov.pk.
- Ask for an itemised quote covering visa, insurance, transport, hotel, and fees.
- Send your passport and documents exactly as they appear on your passport.
- The operator creates or links your Nusuk pilgrim profile and submits the visa through Nusuk Masar.
- Track the application through the operator and the Nusuk app.
- Save your reference number, Booking Reference Numbers, and the visa copy once issued.
Once your visa is issued, you still register on Nusuk. The Umrah permit, entry to Masjid al-Haram, and Rawdah appointments in Madinah are all managed through the platform or app.
Know your visa options
Because Pakistani passport holders cannot use the direct consumer route, the Umrah visa through an operator is usually the correct one. A Saudi tourist eVisa can also allow Umrah outside the Hajj season, but Pakistan is among the countries now limited to a single entry tourist visa valid for 30 days, and eVisa eligibility usually needs a valid US, UK, or Schengen visa.
