Your lawyer tells you the next hearing was fixed, and you want to see it yourself. Or the case has been running for months and you are tired of calling the registry. Either way, you do not need to visit the court to know where your case stands.
Here is how to check a high court case status online in Pakistan, using only the official portals.
What you need before you search
Every court portal is indexed by the case number. That is the one thing you must have. A Pakistani case number has three parts: the case type, a number, and the year. For example, Writ Petition 1234/2025 or Civil Suit 567/2024.
You will find the case number on the vakalatnama, on the plaint, or on the last order sheet you received. Most portals also let you search by CNIC, by the name of a party, or by the name of your advocate. The CNIC is entered without dashes.
The numbering itself comes from two old procedural laws: the Code of Civil Procedure 1908 for civil matters, and the Code of Criminal Procedure 1898 for criminal ones.
The official portals, court by court
Each court runs its own system. Use the one where your case was filed. All of them are free and need no login.
- Supreme Court of Pakistan: the Online Case Status page covers all five registries: Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar and Quetta.
- Lahore High Court: the Case Management System covers Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan and Bahawalpur. Pick the registry, enter the case number, and you get the next date and the last order.
- Sindh High Court: the Case Search portal covers the Principal Seat in Karachi and the benches at Sukkur and Hyderabad.
- Islamabad High Court: the MIS Case Search lets you search by case number, CNIC, party or advocate name.
- Peshawar High Court: the case management system covers the Peshawar and KP benches.
- Balochistan High Court: the BHC Portal has case status, cause lists and certified copy status.
District courts are separate. Punjab runs District Judiciary Punjab and Sindh runs its own CFMS portal. Most civil suits, family matters and criminal trials sit in these district courts, not in the high courts.
How to read the result
A case status page shows the same few fields everywhere:
- Next date of hearing. The day you or your lawyer must appear. Confirm it against the daily cause list the evening before, because dates beyond the current week are provisional.
- Stage. What the next hearing is for: arguments, evidence, or framing of issues.
- Last order sheet. A short note of what the court did on the previous date.
- Status. Pending, decided, disposed of, or transferred.
The portals update within one to three working days of a hearing. If a date looks odd, ask your advocate before you rely on it.
What if your case does not show up?
Work through these before you panic:
- Pick the right registry or bench. A case filed in Multan will not appear in the Lahore search.
- A newly filed case can take a few working days to appear after institution.
- Enter the case number exactly as written, and try the CNIC without dashes.
- An appeal in the high court carries a new number. Search that number, not the trial court one.
If it still does not appear, the registry or your advocate can confirm the position in minutes.
For anything official, get a certified copy
The online status is for information. If you need proof of an order, or you want to calculate an appeal deadline under the Limitation Act 1908, apply for a certified copy (naqal) from the copying branch of the court. The online page is not a substitute for it.
